Mechanical Equipment: MECHANICAL AND EQUIPMENT BLUE GOOSE IS SET UP TO BE EQUALLY COMFORTABLE UNDERWAY, ON THE HOOK OR AT DOCKSIDE. SHE HAS THE SPACE AND COMFORTS TO BE A GREAT LIVE ABOARD AT DOCKSIDE. HOWEVER, JUST AS IMPORTANT TO MANY, SHE IS ALSO EQUIPPED TO BE ABLE TO CUT THOSE DOCKSIDE CONNECTIONS AND LIVE INDEPENDENTLY ON HER OWN FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME IF YOU SO DESIRE. Important qualities for any cruising yacht include ease of handling, sea worthiness, reliability, economy and redundancy. Blue Goose excels in all of these areas!!! MAIN ENGINES – Blue Goose is powered by legendary twin Lehman naturally aspirated diesel engines that produce 135 HP each at 2600 RPM. She will cruise non stop at 7-8 knots while loafing along at1600-1850 RPM while burning only 3-4 gph combined (depending on load and conditions)! No high RPM’s, no turbo chargers or computers here, just good old fashion low tech, highly reliable, easy to maintain economical engines that frequently go over 12,000 hours without any major mechanical work. Blue Goose’s engines have under 2,600 hours total hours on them! DOMESTIC WATER - is provided by a dockside pressure reduction water connection or via a 12V water pump with accumulator tank from on board storage tanks while at anchor or underway. The installed water pump has a complete new exact spare on board for easy change out and redundancy in the event the installed pump fails. Blue Goose carries 380 gallons of fresh water in three tanks that can be filled via a deck plate or from the dockside press water system if it is connected. STEERING - is provided by a dual station hydraulic system for smooth and easy response. In the event of hydraulic failure the rudder posts are easily accessed through the cockpit hatches and the rudder posts can be actuated manually. AIR CONDITIONING – the system is made up of three independent units. The salon unit is a dedicated 18,000 BTU unit with digital controls. To keep sound levels down the compressor is located in the engine room and the air handler in the salon. There is a second 18,000 BTU split system that takes care of the aft cabin and forward cabin again with digital control. The forward cabin also has a self contained 9,000 BTU unit. REFRIGERATION – Galley refrigeration is provided by a Norcold two door refrigerator/ freezer that operates directly on 12V without using inverter capacity. An additional 6 cu. ft. freezer has been installed that is used when out for long cruises or when additional freezer capacity is needed. In addition, a 6 cu.ft. Wine Cooler (that also serves as a drink cooler) is install adjacent to the galley area.

Galley Equipment: Propane cook top with safety shut off switch. Convection Microwave Oven, Deep basin sink with single lever control faucet. Galley refrigeration is provided by a Norcold two door refrigerator/ freezer that operates directly on 12V without using inverter capacity. An additional 6 cu. ft. freezer has been installed that is used when out for long cruises or when additional freezer capacity is needed. In addition, a 6 cu.ft. Wine Cooler (that also serves as a drink cooler) is install adjacent to the galley area. Draw and locker storage plus custom pantry with 3 pull out shelves with storage under.

Electronics and Nav Gear: Again redundancy is the key. Both upper and lower stations have VHF radios and an additional new spare VHF is carried aboard as a spare. A B&G Network Autopilot is install with remote. Both upper and lower stations have compasses. The upper station has a Garmin 2010C Color GPS Chart Plotter. The lower Station has a navigation computer with Garmin GPS input and Max Sea Chart Plotting and Ship Management Software. The upper station has a digital and graph plotting Depth Sounder, the lower station has digital Depth Sounder. They both have independent inside hull mounted transducers to protect against damage. The Furuno 24 mile Radar can be mounted at either the upper or lower stations as needed. Blue Goose was also equipped in 2010 with an Air 802 Wi Fi Antenna with mounting base. She also has Shakespeare Omni Directional Digital TV Antenna for the Sharp 37” Aquos Digital LCD TV.

Electrical Systems: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - Blue Goose’s power can be provided three ways. At dockside she has two independent standard 30A/120V shore power inlets. One provides ships service and the other is for air conditioning units. The yacht also has an 8 KW Onan diesel generator in a sound shield (with less than 900 hours and an independent isolated dedicated starting battery) that can power the entire yacht when she is under way or at anchor. In addition, Blue Goose also has a 2000/4000 Watt Inverter that will provide ships service underway, at anchor or at dockside. The Inverter is powered by four 8D batteries that make up two battery banks totaling 900 AH of storage. These batteries can be charged three ways. They can be charged via the engine alternators while underway. Or they can be charged by two independent 40 Amp battery chargers while at dockside or with the generator while at dockside, underway or at anchor. In addition, Blue Goose has a 4 panel 360 Watt Solar Array and 30 Amp Solar Charge/Controlor that works at dockside, underway or on the hook. With these systems, Blue Goose not only can cut dockside ties and stay out for extended periods of time if desired but also has triple REDUNDANCY in place. Needless to say a battery isolator and selector switches enable this power not only to provide ships service but also provide a back up to the dedicated engine starting system.
